Minecraft Elder Guardian

Elder Guardian

The Elder Guardian is a hostile creature that inhabits the oceanic Monuments. It is a variant creature of the Guardian, but larger and more powerful.

Its body is actually an eye of great dimensions. From its body, or eye, protrude defensive spikes that extend and retract, and the tail, which it uses to swim.

Elder Guardian behavior

They are the chief protectors of the oceanic Monuments, and use their eye to stare down attackers. The Elder Guardian causes the Fatigue effect by stinging III for five minutes at attackers, within a range of 50 blocks, to prevent them from being able to break blocks of the Ocean Monument.

In addition to causing this effect to nearby players, the Elder Guardian has two types of attacks. The first is a lightning bolt that causes damage to players within its range, which is 14 blocks. The second is through the spines protruding from its body, which will cause damage to players when they extend, while the player is in contact with it, but not when they retract.

Elder Guardian spawning

The Elder Guardian is only generated in a single location in the game, in the Oceanic Monuments. It represents the head of the Oceanic Monuments, and therefore its mission is to protect the treasures of the monument. They can be generated at three different points within the same monument. Only one Elder Guardian will be generated in each Oceanic Monument.
